The pastor's message this weekend was based on the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15. There are many lessons to be learned from this passage. One statement Pastor Andy made that resonated with me was God’s love will not be dissuaded by our sin, by our stubbornness, or even by our stupidity! What a gracious God we have!

Below is part of an email from the INUMC. What happens from here is just as important as the decisions made in St Louis by the General Conference. Here is the excerpt: “So, as we all know, a decision was made at the special called General Conference, which was held in St. Louis, February 23-26, 2019. The vote was affirmed in support of the Traditional Plan, and we continue to await the report from Judicial Council regarding the constitutional implications that will take effect by January 2020. We do want to express our appreciation to those who availed themselves in service as a delegate, the presiding Bishops, and the countless volunteers who served in tireless ways throughout the General Conference. We also want to acknowledge that the outcome of the General Conference runs a gamut of emotions; we are sensitive to the hurt, disappointment, elation, surprise, celebration, and confusion many are experiencing, even as it has been two days since General Conference’s conclusion. I have received several calls, texts, and emails from lay and clergy asking how do we talk about what happened at General Conference in our congregations on Sunday? My answer as the East District Superintendent is: A decision was made at General Conference, and we continue to wait upon its total implications. So what does this mean for our congregations? This means we are more impassioned in being missional, and have a greater mission to demonstrate Christ Love. We will continue be Christ’s hands and feet, in the communities for which we are planted. We will continue to seek the least, lost, and last to share about this message of Hope. We will continue to spread the Good News of God’s Love for all humanity through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We will have a Facebook Live message from Bishop Trimble on Sunday, March 3 at 5:30p, please join the conversation at: https://www.facebook.com/indianaumc/ Yes, I am deeply saddened that our public witness, as United Methodists has caused harm and inflicted pain. I also feel we, who call ourselves Christ followers, in the United Methodist tradition, will need to recommit to showing the world what we believe in our understanding of God's Amazing grace, and what we profess through our Communion liturgy, and practice of an Open Lord’s Table (“Christ our Lord invites to his table all who love him, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another”). We are moving forward, and we will gather in District Conversations to talk more about it. These conversations are open to all laity, clergy, and those who are curious. I invite you to join me in one of the following times of conversation in the coming week: Thursday, March 7 - 11:00am - 1:00pm - Hagerstown UMC, 199 S. Perry Street, Hagerstown, IN 47346 Saturday, March 9 - 10:00am - Noon - Edwards Memorial UMC, 4 West Seminar St. Liberty, IN 47353 Saturday, March 9 - 2:00pm - 4:00pm - Richmond First UMC, 318 National Rd., Richmond, IN 47374 Sunday, March 10 - 3:00pm - 5:00pm - Hartford City Grace UMC, 312 W. Washington St. Hartford City, IN 47348 I also want to remind us that this Sunday is Communion Sunday, what a glorious time of reflecting, repenting, reconciling, receiving Christ’s love and offering God’s greatest gift.” If you would like more information, or if you would like to subscribe to the INUMC East District newsletter, click on the link below.
